URL Duplication – Help!

  • mefta

Greetings, all my post URLs appear to generate subdirectories with duplicate content. Here are some examples:

    Original: http://bit.ly/PfUL82
    Duplicate: http://bit.ly/RhUZz5

    Original: http://bit.ly/Ocpplh
    Duplicate: http://bit.ly/PBokE7

These subdirectories are not referenced in my WordPress post manager or MySQL database. Does anyone know how to remove and prevent them from reoccuring?

Perhaps my Robots.txt file or a my Yoast SEO plugin is the culprit? WordPress includes canonical link info so I am not sure why this is happening and how Google Webmaster Tools detected these duplicate posts.

I’d appreciate information on how to resolve this problem. Thank you.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.
