New to wordpress here and for the most part things have been going very smoothly. Unfortunately, I have a problem with the buttons on my site. The buttons on the left hand of the screen are supposed to take you to different pages. While they do that perfectly from the homepage, they mess up when doing it from any other page on the site. They seem to duplicate the url instead of changing it.
For instance, instead of taking me to HINGE-studios.com/projects/better-days, it will try to take me to http://www.hinge-studios.com/projects/better-days/HINGE-Studios.com/apocalypse-tuesdays.
I made the buttons by putting a text widget into the primary sidebar. This is an example of the code I’m using –
If anybody could help or needs some more information so they can help, that’d be great.
In case it wasn’t obvious, my website is HINGE-Studios.com
You haven’t set up the links correctly.
In the text widget that’s holding those links, you need to change:
for all of the links in there.
http://in front of the domain. That’s what makes the difference. Without that browsers think that the link is relative to the page that you’re on (that’s why it works on the homepage, but not on inner pages).
Also, there’s no need to put capitals in links like that. Domain names are case-insensative and all browsers will convert the link to lower-case anyway.
