  • Hi,

    This plugin has been working fine for us for some time, however it now seems to have stopped.

    It appears as though the new databases have been installed, however I am in the UK and my site is showing the US phone number in the header. The contact page is also showing the USA details first when it should be the UK.

    If I type in [CBC_COUNTRY/] and [CBC_CODE/] into a page it returns “United States and US” which isn’t right.

    Development mode has been turned off and on – no difference made.

    We use Cloudflare on this site, but the plugin has worked previously even when using Cloudflare.

    Yes we are.

    As mentioned this site has been live for a year using cloudflare and the plugin has been working fine?

    We haven’t made any changes to Cloudflare recently.

    I’m not sure why this would be the case since if CloudFlare is detected the database is entirely ignored.

    Can you check your cloudflare setting here:

    Also, do you know how to check headers sent using your web browser? Can you see that the header is being sent on your site?

    Then that part doesn’t matter if Cloudflare isn’t used.

    This plugin hasn’t been updated for a couple of months so I’m not sure what would have changed. What you could try to do is manually remove and install the database. There are SQL files provided in the plugin “inc” directory. Use a tool like phpMyAdmin to remove the database tables and reinstall them.

    This page should be displaying UK office info first but it’s showing me the US

    The WP-IP2Nation plugin thinks I’m from the US!

    we are not the WP-IP2Nation plugin.

    I was testing, as that is the database you seem to be using with your plugin?

    There is still the issue of your plugin that has suddenly stopped working and incorrectly displaying wrong content.

    The plugin hasn’t changed for months. And then the plugin stopped working. Something changed. So it probably wasn’t the plugin.

    I don’t seem to the be the only one having an issue though?

    I don’t actually use this plugin, but the one I use needs GB rather than UK. Try it.

    I suspect the problem is that the IP address database is out of date and IPs that would have once indicated GB, are now indicated US. If that’s the case, then the solution is an update to the database, which isn’t available.

    Or better yet, replacing the database with another, which is going to require some development.

    We have no plans to undertake a rewrite of the plugin – at least not for the free version. We’ll probably being building a paid version of the plugin that uses much more reliable geolocation data.

    Just “wrote my own” geolocation function — with almost no coding skills (three skills actually: copy, paste and reading stackoverflow.. =)

    And it’s using MaxMind’s free geolite2 database that is being updated every month I believe — has been very adequately accurate for me, this guy provides the IP checking service for free which made it easy.

    Should put up a post on that.
