# Parse Error

 * We were doing a website update and then our site crashed.
 * We are receiving this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/
   content/34/10340434/html/wp-content/plugins/portfolio-slideshow/lib/Plugin.php
   on line 57
 * Problem is, we can’t access our host because the person who originally set up
   the website left-and left with all of the login information. We are still trying
   to get that piece figured out.
 * Any way to resolve this error without being able to access WP Admin?

 *  You have to have access to the files either thru host provided file manager 
   or ftp.

 * We weren’t using external FTP, so are we limited to host-provided version?

 * I had never even heard of FTP prior to this, so really unsure of how to make 
   sense of some of the suggested correction. Detailed advice would be helpful.

 * You will still need a password to get to your account files for ftp. Can you 
   show the host that you pay the bills? The account should be set up in your company
   name.

 * We used credit card history to verify ownership and they did a manual pass reset.
   For the parse error itaelf, we renamed the subfolder for the plugin and the website
   returned to normal working order.
