This is not a bug and that’s how it works. When you change the form information, the CC area form gets reloaded.
It wasn’t like that before the update + it’s a bad behaviour so it should be considered as a bug.
If you don’t want to lose a sale you can’t frustrate your client…

Ok so its not the same. Pre 4.0, the form was hosted on your site which we had control to. After 4.0, the form is hosted by Stripe hence the more secured way. It also shifts the PCI compliance liability to Stripe.
Currently, we have downgraded to an older version.
I think this is something you must fix. A normal behaviour of a user will be:
1) Filling billing & shipping info
2) Filling payment info
3) Choosing shipping method
This will result in losing the payment info.
It happens too often.

I think this is something you must fix.
As Roy said, the form fields are controlled by Stripe and not your site.
If your customer is choosing the shipping method after filling in the address details and payment details, I would recommend moving the shipping options above your payment card fields on the checkout as is the standard layout.
Filling in the payment card details should be the last part the customer gets to as that is them finalising the order.
