    Hello support,

I’m experiencing an issue with the website’s search functionality using FiboSearch. When I try to search products by color “cupru” (copper), the search results include some unrelated products.

This seems to be happening because products have Upsell or Cross-Sell items displayed on their custom product pages. FiboSearch is indexing these associated products even though they shouldn’t be part of the search results.

Is there a way to prevent FiboSearch from indexing or including information from the Upsell and Cross-Sell sections so these products don’t appear in the search results?

In the link I’ve attached, the top results correctly match the “cupru” filter. However, further down, unrelated products show up only because they are mentioned in the Upsell/Cross-Sell sections of the actual product pages.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi @53pt1m1u,

    That’s a very interesting case.

Go to WooCommerce → FiboSearch → Search engine and check if the “Search in short description” or “Search in description” options are enabled. If they are, please disable them, save the settings, and let me know if this resolves the issue. If it does, it’s possible that some related keywords were present in those fields.

If not, it likely means that another script or plugin is interfering with the search results. I tested how the native WooCommerce search behaves on your site using the query “cupru”, and I also saw unwanted products in the results. You can check it yourself by visiting:
    /?s=cupru&post_type=product
This URL uses the default WooCommerce search engine only, bypassing FiboSearch.

It seems that the issue is not directly related to FiboSearch, but rather a more general one. I’ll wait for your update after you run the test I mentioned.

    Thanks for getting back!

It turns out the issue was on my end—not a plugin problem after all. I really appreciate your guidance in helping me troubleshoot and point me in the right direction. Apologies for any confusion caused.

The issue stemmed from me reusing the same description text (“cupru”) across all related products, but only in the main description field, not the short description. Since my custom single product template only displays the short description, FiboSearch was returning the correct results—they were just hidden from view due to the layout setup.

    Thanks again for your support!
