• I have followed the Fasthosts instructions carefully by installing a MySQL database and enabling PHP.

I then downloaded WordPress to my computer and unzipped it. It unzips into 1,055 files and 110 folders. Fasthosts FTP seems to expect me to upload each one individually to my website. This surely cannot be right?

    Can anyone help me please?

  • Is this fasthosts.co.uk or some other Fasthosts? I stopped using fasthosts.co.uk because I found their technical support so bad, (although that was years ago). Their current advertising says they offer one-click installation of WordPress. Did you try that?

Most web hosts provide a way for you to upload a zip archive and extract it on the server. It’s likely you can do it that way if the one-click method doesn’t work.

Thank you for your help, Rod.

It’s the same Fasthosts and they have replayed to a message I sent them saying that I need to download FTP software (FileZilla). The one click installation does not apply to Windows based web sites.

I’ll let you know how I get on.
