Uploading photo problems...suddenly (10 posts)

I've been merrily uploading photos for months now....but suddenly WP won't load any of my blog photos. I've tried different computers (all of them Macs) different servers, browsers, both uploaders, and nada. I've had a WP pc competent friend try it, he too can not upload to my blog.

I can select the photo and when I click on upload it loads all the info just not the photo. The uploader bar sits at 0% and then its done! I've tried different photos, (ones that previously uploaded) and they now won't upload.

  2. If you're using the flash based uploader, try the other one.

I have tried both repeatedly, as stated above on differing computers, servers, browsers and platforms. Other ideas?

  4. Are you out of space on your server?

What directory is it uploading the images to? Maybe the permissions got changed on the directory somehow.

Maybe try uploading with FTP, see if that works.

  6. FTP won't help the images get added to WordPress, though.

I'll jump in here. I'm helping CMyers figure this out. She is hosted at WebHost4Life who is currently involved in a huge transition to new servers, control panel, etc but the site has already been transitioned so I'm not sure if that's the problem although I've been caught in some sort of limbo as to getting help from WebHost4Life - told to contact "the new support team".

Anyway, I can create new directories, i.e. wp-contents/uploads/2010/05 where the images can be FTPed but do not show up in the WP Admin. All directories show as 0755 chmod.

  8. Do the images show up in the folder when you try to add them?

Also, if your stuff's been moved to a new server, there's a possibility that the new server isn't set up right to allow you to FTP files up. You'd want to tell your host 'Hey, since you moved me, I can't upload images in WordPress.'

Apparently it was a path problem that occurred during the move. Fixed it in Settings/Miscellaneous - uploads path.

Thank you for your input - it is always appreciated even if not enough people mention that fact!

  10. If the path was moved, you may want to take a moment and check your OLD images. I moved mine not terribly long ago, and had to put this in the .htaccess to re-direct things.

    RedirectMatch 301 /myold/uploads/path(.*)$ http://domain.com/mynew/uploads/path$1
