ok, figured out my problem. Everytime I would attempt to upload an image to a post i was working on, when I would click to insert the image, it would take me to the text message plug-in in the add media pop-up. I disabled the plug-in and the images inserted normally.
The Text message plug-in was updated within the last few days. The problem was since that update had occurred. I have contacted the builder (Total bounty) who took over for semper-fi. If you have this plug-in (WordPress Text Message Plugin/widget) version 2.03, disable it. it may be your problem.
It all worked just fine for me until I uppgraded to 3.3. Now it doesn’t work anymore. And I use WP default mediauploader, nothing else. It should work.
My smilies don’t work either, I have to “write them in”. And when i mark up text and click on Link, the link gets placed at the top of the post.
I can workaround all this for a while, but I hope there is a bugfix soon enough. Sad to say I don’t have the competence to help – I would gladly do if I could 🙂
I really do hope that someone will find a solution to the problems, because I don’t want to rebuild and delete and deactivate and install and activate and try and redo and on and on and so on. I’m one of those happy users, not the developing kind 🙂

no. go. tried in chrome, safari and ie8. 3 diff machines. bare install. can’t add categories either.
