My WordPress installation is up and running at:

    A few questions/problems remain....

    1. Can I modify WordPress to substitute the word "news" instead of "wordpress" in the various URL's that WordPress creates?

(I'm trying to shorten the length of the Permalinks plus make my news section appear a bit more professional to outsiders.)

    2. When I upload an image to associate with a new WordPress Post, it displays the image OK in the editor - but creates a 2nd post that contains only the image. I can't figure this one out.

    3. Is there a way to eliminate comments completely? I have them turned off (comments are closed), yet I continue to get emails about comments awaiting moderation via email. I don't want to allow any comments associated with WordPress posts. And I'm already getting spam comments.

    4. Eventually I intend to integrate my phpBB into WordPress. Is there an existing workaround to integrate a new phpBB post for every new WordPress post?

    1. If you mean this reference to wordpress in the url? Yes, it is possible, but you need to install your wordpress in a subdomain or directory named 'news' instead of 'wordpress'.

    2. Can you send an example of one of these second posts, so we can see what is happening?

    3. Yes, you can remove all calls and references to comments. Delete all the comments code in your single.php and page.php pages [in your theme directory]. You could go further and delete the comments.php template and also remove any calls to your comments in in index.php in the theme files too.

    4. There are a few options available, but it may be an idea to sort out the first 3 before you tackle this one.

Issue 2 is resolved. User error on trying to upload images and post a new WordPress post at the same time. Upload the image first, then develop the post.

    I will try your suggestion for # 1 and # 3.

Thank you shadow for your assistance.

Actually, upon further review. Issue # 2 is NOT resolved!

    See here:

It is referencing a post that does not exist. I was trying to add an image to an earlier post:

The graphic file in question is:
