# Uploading and Installing WordPress

 * Hi, I’m trying to upload and install so that I can get started with a personal
   blog.
 * At this link: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_FileZilla](http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_FileZilla)
   I gathered that I need FileZilla. Which version should I download? Thank you.
 * I’ve gone through [http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress#Installation](http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress#Installation)
   
   several times but I just don’t know enough about programming nor do I have an
   adequate grasp of the jargon to understand what I’m supposed to do next notwithstanding
   the step by step nature of the instructions at the aforementioned link.

 * Generally it’s best if you download the latest version of programs like that.
   You’ll want the latest version that works with Windows XP (you have XP, right?)

 * Diane, who is your website hosted with? Do you have something like cPanel, Plesk,
   or vDesk for working with your site? If so, your host may offer installs of programs
   like WP through the control panel software, or through Fantastico – which would
   be very much simpler for you in the beginning.
