Is there a way to easily upload a single image without wordpress generating the different, unused, image and thumbnail sizes or a way disabling it all together? I don’t have that much space disk space on my server and would like to save space however I can.

I could manually upload the images via ftp but I do prefer uploading images directly into the post as I go, I find it much easier. Also I like that wordpress automatically sorts my images into neat folders and that they are visible in the media library.

This is an example of what I have got going at the moment: site link

But for each image I have at least two images that wordpress has generated that are left unused, im basically looking for a more efficient way of achieving a similar result.

I looked into plugins such as next-gen but it didn’t seem to offer the solution I am after, unless I am missing something. And plugins such as DUI seem a little backwards, be much easier if they unused images weren’t created in the first place.

Sorry if this topic has already been covered I had a search and spent most of the day looking for a solution but have yet to come across and ideal one.

I fiddled around with nextgen gallery style css to find something that matched my previous layout.
