Support » Fixing WordPress » Uploaded images show up as question marks

  • Hi
I am new to WordPress. I have set up a site and have been able to upload images to my wp-content folder. However, when I try to display images using the Image Browser plugin or inputting the code to a post manually, I just get question marks displayed in the post where the image should be. I’ve searched these forums and one possibility may be because I am hosting my site as an add-on domain for another site…but I cannot figure out what the URI of the destination directory for my files should be in that case. The recommended is: Is there something else I should be doing? I have tried and still no success.

Any help would be much appreciated as I find all this rather daunting and at times frustrating.

  • If you look in your Admin, under Options, Miscellaneous, what shows as the URI for the Upload directory?

Hi..I’ve done that and it shows the recommended path, but it, or something else, doesn’t seem to work. But I can use my file manager in Cpanel to confirm that the images are in the wp-content folder. Any ideas?

Could it be a case sensitive problem? Maybe part of the file name is upper case, but you’re putting it in lower case, or vice versa?

Care to share an url to a post with a missing pic so we can check it out?

Have a look at this but I am not sure how much it can help you:

    Thanks for your help!

Oriecat: I don’t know what happened…all of a sudden it started working with the original settings! Anyway, thanks for helping and I’ll get back to designing the site!

Yup, I’m seeing pics there. 🙂 Glad it’s working!
