[Resolved] Uploaded image link points to tmp folder

  • I have just upgraded to wordpress 2.5. I only have this problem recently and I thought upgrading would help, but it didn’t.

I have some image uploading problem where every seems to be OK until the upload done, then I see the image’s “Link URL” points to “http://blog-url//../../../../../../../../../../../../../../../../../tmp/image.png”

    Please comment.

  • Can anyone help?

Is it possible that my blog got hacked?

Or is it simply upload tmp folder settings?

First check your Settings>Miscellaneous to see where it is set to store images. Also check to see if you have checked to “Organize images into month and year based folders”. Some people like to keep them organized by date, I prefer not to because it makes it harder for me to find them on the occasions when I want to hardcode a reference to them, so I like to just keep all in Uploads, but that is just a personal preference.

Post back what your settings are…..maybe we can still help….

Checked the upload path in Miscellaneous and found that the path was been changed to the tmp folder.

That should be the work of the hacker, I guess.

    It’s OK now. Thanks.

same thing happened to me. (thanks for the fix). this must be malicious, right? is there a hole I should patch?
