# Upload wordpress to what folder

 * What folder do I upload wordpress into so viewers do not see [http://www.webaddress.com/wordpress](http://www.webaddress.com/wordpress).
   I would prefer viewers not see the word wordpress after .com. Is this possible?

 * and what folder do I place it in so when I type in [http://www.example.com](http://www.example.com)
   it comes up as that and not [http://www.example.com/wordpress](http://www.example.com/wordpress).
   
   My domain is in /public_html/example. in this folder was CGI-Bin and two other
   files .ht and .htaccess. If I install wordpress in this folder I have to type
   in [http://www.example.com/wordpress](http://www.example.com/wordpress) to see
   the site. I have attempted to open wordpress in my ftp and upload all files within
   to /public_html/example but when i do this I get errors when I click on any links
   and I am also unable to log in as it seems to be searching for [http://www.example.com/wordpress](http://www.example.com/wordpress).

 * You seem to be uploading the outer folder for WordPress. Its not necessary. Just
   upload the contents. Index.php should end up in public_html. Nowhere else. Then
   in options make sure the site url is set correctly. If you have installed several
   times it may not be.
