Upload wordpress backup

  • Can someone please help me?!?!
I am transferring my old wordpress site from hypermart to godaddy, i already have my website http://www.stepitup-studios.com running, but now i need to upload the old hypermart wordpress content back on to the new godaddy wordpress site. When i backed up my website from hypermart I just used FTP to download all of my website content. Can someone please help explain to me how to upload the content to my new godaddy wordpress site?

  • Well, there’s more than just files you need to move when migrating WordPress. You can upload all the files to your root folder with GoDaddy. But did you backup your databases. WordPress is dynamically driven and all the content is stored in the database.

No, i didnt backup the database, is there anyway i can still access the content i backed up? so i can use it to rebuild my website on the new godaddy site?

All the content is in the database, that is your posts and pages. You’ll need to contact the previous host to see if you can still get a copy of the database. The files will have your theme and plugins but no content.
