Support » Fixing WordPress » Upload … Unable to create directory

  • When I try and upload a file I get the following error:

    Warning: is_dir(): Stat failed for /home/…/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2006 (errno=13 – Permission denied) in /home/…/public_html/wp-includes/functions-post.php on line 869
    Unable to create directory /home/…/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2006/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I setup using cPanel fantastico, I created an “upload” directory in the wp-content, but I can’t seem to get it working.

    I’ve seen others with this problem, but there doesn’t seem to be a reasonable solution. Help!

    Thanks.

    wp-content needs to be writable == 777

    its a bad idea btw, your better off using another directory, like media, or something.

    You may find it necessary to change permissions on the wp-content as well as upload folder. Developers intended for the wp-content folder to be writeable.

    Yes I failed to point that out.

    I have set wp-content to 777 and created a directory called upload, which is also set to 777, still the same error.

    After checking my details again I noticed I had them set to 775, or similar, it appears to work correctly as long as its set to 777.
