Upload New Media Issue – Unable to create directory

  • We have been trying to upload new images in the media section and lately have been receiving the ‘unable to create directory c:\wwwroot/wp-content/uploads/2012/10.’

    We have come across a couple of threads that deal with UNIX in the forum however we use Windows. We need to know which user needs full control of the upload directory.

    Any ideas?

    Are you familiar with folder permissions and how to change them? You basically just need to chmod permissions on the uploads folder to 0755. You may need to make it 0777 if 0755 doesn’t work. And if neither work, trying chmod permission on wp-content itself to the same values.

    Thanks for responding1 We know how to change the folder permissions – We just don’t want to have to do it for the built in account “Everyone” We’re running Windows 2008 not UNIX.

    You wouldn’t use the “Everyone” account… you would use FTP account on your web server. You can read up about it here:
