• hello, my client needs to be able to update a list of file downloads that are currently available on a protected members area. I understand how to upload files to the protected s2member folder via FTP and this is fine, but he will not want to be using FTP – is there a way for him to do this via the admin panel?? I.e. a plugin??

I was thinking of changing wordpress media settings to upload all things into this protected folder so it’s easy for him, but this isn’t a good solution because then it would apply to everything he uploads – a lot of this is not meant to be protected.

I also saw a plugin but this was made back in 2012 and ive seen issues posted about it since.

Is there a solution for upload files to protected file area via admin, not FTP?? Would this plugin i found still work, or is there a new one??

  • Is the other plugin you are referring to s2member Secure File Uploader?

I haven’t used it for some time, but I see no reason why it shouldn’t continue to work. The bigger problem, I think, is likely to be whether it is sufficiently flexible to do what you want.

I use WordPress File Upload, which can be used from the back-end or, via shortcodes, from the front-end, though you then have to manually insert a link to the uploaded file into the relevant post or page. This is perfect for me, but might not be what you are looking for.

Please let me know what you decide to do. It’s always good to get someone else’s perspective.

thanks – im using s2member secure upload plugin which will suffice for now. 🙂

i have a question in response – how does one go about protecting downloads which appear on specific paid page access pages? [accessible for a finite amount of hours, without membership]?

Glad to hear you have it working!

It depends whether the page (post?) is what is accessible for a fixed period, which would be easier for s2Member to handle, or just the download.

If it’s the former, then you handle download protection as usual.

If you want the latter, then I think you need to look at the s2Member back-end, in Download Options -> Advanced Download Restrictions

Thanks, for some reason the protected downloads contained on the membership area of the site work ok, but for the downloads contained on the single page limited time access pages [bought without membership, link to page sent in email] don’t work – when clicked they redirect back to the original sales page.

i’ve made a link where you can see this going on:
    http://winninghealthsolutions.co.uk/protected-single-page-test/?s2member_sp_access=fnIyOnh6ZWdOcnlvSW1oTHF5dTRpRGw0bVFnOWdkWTRHVWwzOmY5NDI2MThkYTg1YTRlMGMwNjEzZmRhODljYmQxZWEzfIu8QoT511JG1wlGkjlcMQ2PLuwXsYN5cX5i2rE-kNCG4uVDYLWj6h5vNW1hy0bNWZpk8uInUiLpjmAeZ9N-Xnc

try to click and download – just redirects you back. is it possible that you troubleshoot this please?? I can also make you an admin login so you are able to see the page if you like.

a note about the url of our site – the site is held under winninghealthsolutions.co.uk/new/ within the root folder, but it shows as just the domain winninghealthsolutions.co.uk – im not sure if this is affecting anything?

First, you should know that I’m just a user of s2Member. I am not one of the devs.

But I think that what is going on here is that you haven’t associated the downloads with the capability needed to access them from that page. So s2Member is redirecting users who attempt to access them to your Membership Options Page.
