upload attachments from url

    I like the new feature in WP 2.0 that allows inline uploading, but I am a bit disappointed that it only allows uploading from my computer.
    I would like to see WP capable of uploading a file from a url.
    It often happens that I find an interesting image somewhere on the web. I have to save it to my desktop, and then upload it. It would be easier to just enter the url in the upload field and click the upload-button.

    Between the finding and uploading you have to ask for the permission of the author anyway… so there is plenty of time for saving it 🙂

    What about those of us with legitimate reasons (i.e. using a third party hosting service like Flickr, for example) where the authors are ourselves?

    Well, <img src="EXTERNAL_URL" /> still works.
