Upload a custom edited local copy to GoDaddy hosting (4 posts)

I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to do this.

I built a full wordpress site with a custom theme using XAMPP and Dreamweaver CS5 on my home computer. Everything was edited locally.

Now I want to upload this site exactly as it is to my hosting space on GoDaddy.

When I use the wordpress dashboard on my hosted site (not the LOCALHOST copy), everything resets to defaults. Basically a fresh "just another word press site".

My theme shows up in the theme section, but I've lost all the pages, menus, posts, etc.

I basically uploaded everything to GoDaddy using the built-in FTP capabilities in Dreamweaver CS5. I also set up the MySQL database on GoDaddy.

Do I need to adjust the settings in the wp-config file back from the LOCALHOST settings? Will that fix everything?

I really thought that building the site would be the hard part, but it turns out that uploading it is more difficult....

Did you also upload export your database from your localhost to your new server?

After exporting do not forget to change the siteurl and home values from your wp_options table. I also assume that you have set up your wp-config.php right

This article will surely help you with that: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

I have no idea why this isn't working.

I read that article, and even tried the search and replace tool.

At this point, I've spent close to 10 hours just trying to migrate a friggin' wordpress site from my localhost to godaddy hosting space.

I can't believe that it is this difficult.

It would have been faster for me to literally rebuild the site on the Godaddy hosting space.

You can also use the WordPress export and import tools to get back your posts. But the database method is the best(you'll also get all yur settings).

Importing wordpress is very easy, your probably messed up some steps.

Try to install it on your localhost first (another folder)
