# upgrading question

 * **hello everyone**
 * Last night I attempted to upgrade my blog from 202 – 213
    and accidentally deleted
   my **wp-config.php** file! Is there a way to retreive this file, and if not will
   I be able to restore my blog back to its former state???
 * **QUERY:2**
    Is it absolutely necessary to upgrade v202? What are it’s security
   risks? Because this upgrading crap is a nightmare.

 * Upgrading is trivial — if your host isn’t Yahoo. As I’ve tried to point out in
   your [other thread](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/113461?replies=13), they
   make it difficult.
 * Assuming you skipped that whole “backup your site before upgrading” step, you
   might have to contact your host and see if THEY have a backup of that file for
   you.
 * If not, you’ll need to ask them for help to determine the proper db values for
   the wp-config.php.

 * You were correct about everything, like I said I’m new at this tech stuff so 
   I guess I’m learning the hardway.Anyway I did backup my site, I have a copy of
   it on my hard drive.
    I’ll do as you suggest and call my host and see If the 
   can help with this issue. Otherwise I’ll just install a whole new blog.

 * Well wait – if you backed it up first, then you have your old wp-config.php there,
   yes? Just pop it back up to the web site then.

 * While you’re at it, first edit it (use a simple text editor like Notepad).
 * Find and remove this line:
 * `define('WP_CACHE', true); //Added by WP-Cache Manager`
 * That should clear up the blank pages issue that you were having yesterday.

 * I looked in my backup file that I created but I don’t see the **wp-config.php**
   file. I guess they don’t let you back that info up. Or either I’m not looking
   in the right spot. I don’t know-
 * Also I called my host and they said they couldn’t help with that, they directed
   me back here. So they ain’t worth nothing.
 * I probally have to install from scratch.

 * Contact Yahoo and DEMAND:
    database name: database user: database pass: database
   connection:
 * Optionally, install the phpmyadmin they provide with the one-click. If you can
   possibly remember your database user/pass, you can get the other 2 values.

 * Actually I did the 1 click install for my blog by yahoo!
    when I signed up with
   their hosting. What password are you talking about? The password I use to get
   into my blog?
