• For some reason every time I update Jetpack on one of my sites, the upgrade hangs and never completes leaving the .maintenance message that I need to remove.

I have a number of WordPress sites on the same server and they always update fine, but for some reason on this site it always hangs. on the upgrade. I have tried uninstalling the plugin and then deleting the files and installing again – this gets the latest version working fine, but the same issue arises whenever a new version comes out.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Are you certain your server is allowing outgoing connections to the WordPress.com servers? Have you checked your site using the Jetpack Debug page to make sure there aren’t any errors reported?

Also, 2.0 was released recently, so maybe try updating again now.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes outgoing connections to WordPress.com is allowed on the server – this is one of 5 sites on the same server that run WordPress and the others work fine.

I’ve updated to 2.0 and I’m hoping that’ll fix the issue. I won’t know until 2.1 comes out I suppose but fingers crossed 🙂

Okay, when 2.0.1 comes out, see if you can screenshot or copy/paste any error messages you see (if any) if it still hangs. Hmm, I’m trying to think of other things you can check when you try again. Maybe check to see if the site has any unusual domain settings or other server-side settings that the other sites don’t have and let us know.

    Cheers.

OK – this still happened with the update to 2.01, but removing W3 Total Cache seems to have done the trick. Not sure of the problem there because I use them both on other sites with ease, but it at least gives me somewhere to start looking!
