# upgrading – get_shortcode_regex() missing

 * I tried upgrading to the latest version and now my site gets the template and
   in place of the blog post says:
 * Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_shortcode_regex() in /home/nomoscom/
   public_html/livingwithdragons/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 95
 * Please help me fix this or I’m going to have to rol back and probably won’t bother
   upgrading for some time.
    I’m guessing this post makes sense in Installing though
   I could of posted in Troubleshooting

 * Indeed.
 * I commented out the line (95) in wp-admin/formatting.php and it now works fine.
   I compared it to a previous version, and it was a new line, so probably no big
   impact

 * I tried using my old file (2.3) formatting.php.
    The site now works but the wp-
   admin doesnt show any page at all.
 * Tried changing formatting.php to 2.5.1 version again but with line 95 commented
   out. Same as old file, I can’t get to my admin.
    what are short-codes? I think
   I may use them in a few posts.
