Support » Fixing WordPress » upgrading from 2.1.2?

  • I currently use 2.1.2 – and I want to upgrade to wp’s newest version, how can I?
I’ve never upgraded before, so is it possible to upgrade without losing any content?

    Thanks!

  • Hi! First of all, it is recommended that you backup your blog’s content, i.e., your database (although, on one occasion, I have upgraded without doing this, and all went fine). To learn more about the various ways to do this, see here. One of the options, as you will see, include a plugin you can download and use for this purpose (the plugin didn’t work in my case, so I ended up backing up the database using phpMyAdmin at my Web Host’s Control Panel).

Finally, for upgrading, you will find detailed instructions here. Don’t be intimidated, it’s actually quite easy to follow.
