Upgrading from 2.1 to 2.5

    Hello Guys,

    I simply loved wordpress 2.5 interface and its working.My website is running on wordpress 2.1 and i would like to upgrade but i am not sure about what effect it may have when i will upgrade it.

    As it is very major upgrade.Do i have to rebuild my theme for 2.5.Also There are many database changes as i have read from articles being published.

    Also there is a big issue of plugins i have been using and upgradation of different plugins.

    Please help me in this issue.Any resource regarding upgrade instructions will be appriciated.

    First of all, you don’t NEED to upgrade.

    Second, consult this page http://wordpress.org/support/topic/164088 for plugin compatibility.

    As you probably know, the upgrade instructions are at http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress .

    2.5 is a big upgrade, you are right. If you have a busy site, it’s a good idea to install WP2.5 on a test copy first, then switch over when you are satisfied there are no problems. If you don’t have a busy site, be prepared to restore everything from backup if you aren’t happy.

    oh this sounds better thanks a bunch for the idea i would test all the plugins on the test subdomain and then transfer the same in main site

    Well the site is quite busy and cant keep it down for much time.

    Also thanks a loads for the links for upgrade. I will surely follow them.
