    I’ve upgraded to version 3.5 and the entire content was gone. Can’t see/access older posts even through the dashboard. Rolling back changes with the site’s web-host didn’t cure the problem. File index.php in folder wp-content looks like this
    <?php
    //Silence is golden.
    Will appreciate any advice re: content recovery

    The main thing that you have not lost the database. You can check it out?

    Yes, the database on web-host is in order; I ran diagnostics tool. Still, I don’t get what went wrong… My blog page displays header and menu, but instead of posts it shows “This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it? it seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.” Then goes search field and “search” button next to it.
    Does it mean there’s disconnection b/w WP and database files? Is it a glitch or a hack?

    No it’s not meant disconnection with DB just i think your db is empty.

    upgrade to the new version can erase entire database?

    (@polshikovrm)

    Only if there is bad karma 🙂 But in general it is necessary to look to the database itself, may be new, empty database is duplicated.

    no, the database is not empty and it’s not duplicated.

    And there you have the file .htaccess in a document root?

    @eyepix: What is the site URL?

    (@eyepix)

    @eyepix: the //Silence is golden line is standard wordpress for that index file.

    So you can log in to admin but you can’t see any posts at all?

    Yes, the database on web-host is in order; I ran diagnostics tool.

    How do you know this? Did you look at the DB with phomyadmin and see that the content is still there?

    I spoke with my domain host and the problem was quickly fixed. This time around I was able to get a hold of more experienced technical support representative.
    Thank you for your consideration.

    @songdogtech: I was advised by web-host rep. that the problem was in incorrect linkage. So, something was not done as it usually would during an upgrade process.
    Again, many thanks!
