Support » Installing WordPress » Upgraded to WP v2.8.4, and now the Manage tabs, etc don’t appear

  • Resolved adrian_aki

I’m a newbie at running Word Press; someone else set up our site a few years back (

I was prompted to upgrade WordPress, and it is now version 2.8.4.

However, all of the links across the top of the Dashboard (Manage, Posts, etc) have disappeared (regardless of whether I log in as Administrator or Editor). There is only View Site.

I can access the HTML code behind the Dashboard screen, but I don’t know what to do with it (but could follow instructions). Is this a WP issue that others have had? Or is it some complication with the Dashboard script?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

And you really should upgrade to 2.9.1 as soon as possible.

Thanks. That worked. Must be a problem with x-dashboard (or the script our website uses for it). I don’t know how to fix it, but turning it off and just using Dashboard is fine. Cheers.
