Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
I’m sorry but if this is a theme issue, you will need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial products here.

Thanks for your rapid reply.
I don’t understand how to do some of these suggestions, but i’ll try to ones I know how to do.
one more quick question.
My theme is “SmallBiz Options”- i didn’t pay for it.Its a default from WP. Its built into the left nav bar
Doesn’t WP own this theme and therefore should support it?
oops sorry
it is “SmallBiz dynamic Lite”
Sorry – still can’t find it.
If I look at the left menu Appearance/Theme
The first (of 5) theme is selected:
“Small Biz Full Width
by Expand2web
Active:SmallBiz Dynamic Lite”
That theme was not downloaded from wordpress.org.
I downloaded it from a link within WP. About a year ago.
The two companies must be ‘partners’ or something. WP let Expand2web advertize within the WP Admin consul.
What is WP’s current relationship with Expand2web?
There is no relationship. wordpress.org is completely independent and does not have relationships with commercial theme developers.
Can you find that theme in https://wordpress.org/themes/ ?
ok, i’ll contact Expand2web. Likely, its a theme issue but i didn’t try all your suggestions, yet.
Thanks for your time.
(but don’t consider this issue closed, yet)
I am having the same problem. I can’t update my home page because the homepage text box did not populate with the last automatic update (3.9). Not sure what I can do, but I need to do something.
Esmi is correct. This isn’t a WP issue. It is a Expand2web issue:
Unfortunately, our limited time Lite version partnership with Bluehost and SimpleScripts has ended.
The Lite version is no longer available. Here are a few options to consider:
Option 1) Revert back to an older version of WordPress to continue the free theme.
Option 2) Switch to a different free theme included with WordPress or your hosting provider
Option 3) We are glad to offer a 20% discount to upgrade to the full version of SmallBiz here:http://www.smallbiztheme.com/. Use the following Coupon code upon checkout: SMALLBIZ20D
