Upgraded to 6.0.1? What’s working, what’s not, for you?
-
For whose who Upgraded to 6.0.1 (and did not rollback to stable 3.12.1), what’s working for you (how did you get over the limitations) and what sorts of problems are you still experiencing?

I’ve been waiting to update for a moment when no users visit the website, because it is a ‘major update’, although it mostly concerns UI improvements (admin UI), as I understand.
Last night I updated and it turned my website into a chaos…I quickly browsed some pages that list events and looked in the edit-mode of an event. What I saw was that the layout of pages was totally disrupted and it seemed that the event I was looking at, didn’t have all the contents (? not possible, must have misjudged). I also saw a link to migration settings, so I expected that there’s more to it than a simple updated and quickly ended this first try.
I restored the previous plugin folder (5.12.1) and delete the new one (6.0.1), and that restored the website. Before continuing this update, I’m now doing more research to prepare and understand the update proces and components involved.
In my website I use some custom page templates and I’ve added some custom placeholders to ’em-event.php’. And some custome variables. Nothing more. I do have large scripts with conditionals, placeholders and html in the settings to format event lists and single events.
Any tips, sources to help me prepare this would be great!
I tried an upgrade, failed; the message I get is “The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.”
So I am browsing here to see if others had that problem and what to do about it; maybe it is a clue for you? or for someone else here?
I had ALL kinds of issues. The update is not compatible with The7 or our version of it. It wiped out all the CSS formats for a Single-Event-Page and we had to re-code everything into the theme’s Custom CSS.
Search is no longer working. It picks up some things but not all things even if the word is in the Event title. Wiped out all the formatting of the Search Results Page. There’s not even an option to revert. It’s a complete mess so we’ve had to turn the search function off completely, and when you have 650+ events listed it’s not ideal.
All in all this upgrade caused our site to go down for 2 days until we could figure out what was happening and it’s still not running properly.
Looking at other event manager options now because this cost us money and the end result is bad.

the latest EM version is 6.1 (with EM Dev version 6.1.0.1) and includes fixes previously reported; the Devs are still working on additional improvements and fixes.
Thanks
The legacy calendar widget still is massive after the 6.1 upgrade; I tested it out and removed it again; replacing it with a button that goes to the calendar page. Less than ideal, but it will work for now.

Has anyone updated to 6.1.1 version? Is it still bloated and heavy on sites? Should we stay on 5.12.1 version a bit longer (it’s very stable and not intrusive)?
I have no overview of changes, so it’s hard to decide. Is there documentation?
I’m also very happy with the powerful functionality and stability of 5.12.1.
I expect 6.1.1 to not change the way my website looks apart from format scripts for single events and events list, and only have changes in admin (easier/advanced event management). But from what I read from other users, it also affects the visual design of the website (?). In that case, no 6.1.1 for me!Hi,
At the moment, the Documentation is still in progress – https://wp-events-plugin.com/blog/2022/07/24/events-manager-6-0/
