Upgraded to 2.8 and have plugin error

I’m getting the known issue where the error…
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in…
is appearing against plugins. In my case it only appears to affect one – Last.FM for WordPress. I’ve followed the instructions of a manual upgrade of 2.8 with all plugins switched off but, nope, I’m still getting the error.
Anybody know what the fix for this is if the re-install doesn’t work?
