I just upgraded to 3.5 and the screen says:

    Database Update Required
Wordpress has been updated. Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

I clicked on the box "Update WordPress Database"
    The next screen says:

Your WordPress database has been successfully updated

I click on the box "Continue"
And I just takes me back to the previous screen.
    I'm caught in a loop.
    I am new to wordpress
My website seems to be working ok.
But I was ready to post a new blog, and now I can't get into the admin.

    Try:
    - switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme's folder inside wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    - running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I can't do any of these things because I can't get past these screens to get into wordpress.
Maybe I need to get into the wordpress site where it is hosted...
Sorry to trouble you. My wordpress site was set up by someone who is no longer available to support me. All I've been doing is posting my blogs.

Please re-read my post above. None of the suggestions I made require you to login to your WordPress dashboard.

I'm a newbie and didn't understand that. I just spoke with Network Solution, my host, and the issue is they are having problems with their server. It was working temporarily while I spoke with them and we were able to resolve my problem with WordPress. WordPress is upgraded and working. At least it was until the server went out again. Thanks for your help.
