Support » Fixing WordPress » Upgraded and Comments Awaiting Moderation do not display

  • I am admin of my blog. I recently upgraded to the most recent version of WordPress. When I login, I see I’ve got 25 comments awaiting moderation. I click to view only the comments awaiting moderation. When I navigate to wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated it reads:

    Awaiting Moderation (25)

I click on the awaiting moderation link above. In the table of comments, zero comments display, and I see the text:

    No comments awaiting moderation… yet.

This didn’t happen in the last version. Any ideas? Many thanks for the assistance.

This seems to happen to some users that started with version 2.3.3 originally and have upgraded to 2.5.1. To fix it, you need to add a field called comment_date_gmt to the wp_comments table in your database.

    • Open your WordPress database using phpMyAdmin
    • Click on wp_comments to view the table structure
    • Check to see if there is a comment_date_gmt field
    • If comment_date_gmt is missing, add the field using the Add line at the bottom of the structure table. The field type probably doesn’t matter since that field is not used any more, but my comment_date_gmt is set to datetime.

P.S. It’s *always* a good idea to make a backup before editing a database.
