    Hi there…

I just upgraded my blog to the latest and greatest WordPress version 2.7.1. I can no longer logout. I can no longer activate or update plug-ins. I can no longer create, save, or publish posts. This wasn’t the best transition I could think of.

I have looked at the forums for the last couple of hours and am not getting anywhere.

I have a custom theme that I’ve had since WordPress 2.5. This theme does not have any custom logout script overrides/functions that I can tell.

I deactivated all the plug-ins and can’t even reactivate Akismet, so I’m guessing it has something to do with the transition from the old wp-config.php to the new.

My old file had a SECRET_KEY, not an AUTH_KEY, so I’m wondering if that’s the culprit in addition to the addition of the NONCE_KEY, which is most likely preventing me from leaving the site.

Where do I go from here? What specifically do I need to do to fix my blog?

    Thank you
    –Fitz

Try upgrading manually and see if that helps…or, first you may want to login and just try reinstalling through the WP admin area. Change to the default theme and leave all plugins deactivated until you get it working.

    Hi Figaro,

I did upgrade manually from version 2.6.1. And I’m unable to do diddly squat. When I try to switch themes, I get this:

Your attempt to switch to this theme: “default” has failed.

    All plugins are still deactivated.

    Thanks for the help.

Everything seems to be using the wpnonce=xxxxxx in the URL, which makes sense, but is failing somehow. Is there a “dunce” topic for “nonce” newbies? I suspect that the nonce is what’s making everything fail, as I didn’t have a nonce in my config.php file before.

Hi This is Ruben Hunter. I just upgraded as well and I cannot even find out how to acces my plugins. Can you tell me how to find them now in this new installation?

I was able to add a page but unable to add an image and have tried it several different ways including the impoprt image from computer, ftp’d the image to the image directory and still the image will not show up.

I cannot seem to get this working and am wondering how to change back to the previous installation and can you tell me how?

I am somewhat of a newbie.

Thank you very much for any and all help.

    Ruben

P.S. – are there any video tutorials on this stuff?

I guess I needed to include a bit more info.

I upgraded through cpanels fantastico and it was a smooth and easy upgrade from 2.6.

I got into the new installation and reactivated my plugins and then didn’t see them anymore. I have no idea how to get back to them.

I can’t change from visual mode to html or rather am stuck in the html view. This happened in the previuos installation and when it did, I simply deactivated some plugins and was able to switch between views until my edits were complete and then simply reactivated my plugins.

If I login via ftp and check my error logs will this offer any explanations? I will check.

Again, is there a way to change back to my previous installation? I do have the backups but have never re-installed from a back up before. Are there any instructions for this?

Thanks again and if I figure this out I will come back and post my findings.

    Hi guys,

just wanted to leave an update to my simple issues.

I just pointed my browser to /wp-admin/plugins.php and
was able to deactivate a couple of my plugins and all is
    well.

Because I just installed this update I don’t have anything
    else to offer.

Aside from my previous issue, the install was smooth and the
problem I was having seems to be the exact one as before. To
    many activated plugins.

I will be back if I have more to offer.

    To many activated plugins.

It’s probably not too many plugins, rather, one of those plugins is incompatible and breaking WP. It’s always best to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default theme before an upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete, then select your theme and activate the plugins one at a time and check that everything is still working.

I sure hope there is an update soon. 2.7.1 is not working correctly. I can’t even activate my themes and when I go to post to my blog and click on ‘publish’ it tells me there is an error. Then I find my post in ‘draft’ and my tags are not updated and if blog wasn’t automatically saved in time, half my post will show up. This is a pain in the butt.
