Thank you for your reply. Sorry for my slow response – I missed seeing your reply. My test website is http://happymestuff.com/test/ – the issues (i.e. the homepage carousel display issues and product page display issues – When you click on the different product categories- the page content/product details don’t come up. If click on the overall product tab it displays all the products. If I click on the HappyME fun tab different tabs – it no longer displays the theme page content or associated products). This didn’t happen till after upgrading to the wp ecommerce 22.214.171.124 plugin after an upgrade to 3.8 was complete on my test site. I have disabled all the plugins and reinstalled 3.8 and now the issue still remains even after I deactivate the wp ecommerce plugin. Currently the theme is Storefront Elegance 1.4.5. I tried switching to twenty fourteen (which I assume is the default) but couldn’t see how my site would look as it goes back to a basic page with no real visual correlation – so I reactivated the Storefront Elegance theme and same issues exist.
I also tried upgrading the WP 3.8 without upgrading the wp ecommerce and whilst the front end site looks ok – the backend doesn’t work properly – in terms of adding new products etc – freezes and comes up with error messages, can’t add variations etc.
Please advise – I need to upgrade to WP 3.8 but can’t without being able to have a workable version of WP ecommerce.
The plugins that are typically active are – Akismet 2.5.9 , Custom Contact forms 126.96.36.199, Goldcart 2.9.7, Share this 7.0.8, Simple Facebook 1.0, Simple Model 1.2.9, Storefront Insights 1.1, WordPress Https 3.3.6, Word Press Seo 1.4.22, Video Lightbox 1.6.5.

From what i can tell it looks like its a theme issue.
I noticed you are using version 1.4.5 of the theme and their latest is 1.5.8. I sugest trying to update the theme first.
I also recall a blog post or forum on their website that told users NOT to update their wpec version starting from a specific version.
You will be best contacting them, if they are still “alive”, and ask them to be sure what wpec version they support.
Thanks Mihai – Now trying to locate the 1.5.8 version as it is not showing up in my backend like updates usually do…
In the interim – while I sort out the theme issue – I’d like to be able to upgrade my site to WP 3.8 and not do the WP e commerce 188.8.131.52 upgrade – but in my tests, after upgrading the 3.8 without the latest Wp ecommerce upgrade, the product backend isn’t working properly, – it froze up when I went to add media, variations etc.? My current version is Version 184.108.40.206.2. Please advise?
Well….you can`t…when wp is updated we update WPEC too..we always keep the latest version of WPEC updated and following WordPress standards.
Sometimes WP updates bring major updates too and such we need to keep WPEC updated so that it will work.
If you don
t want to update WPEC then im afraid that you will have to keep the current working versions of your plugins.
