Try to check if you can access your admin area. I didn’t see any .maintenance file, but WP did finally come out of maintenance mode, so I updated the theme manually. The only remaining issues now are: 1: _some_ of the pages’ edit pages are still giving me the message: “Error 500 – Internal server error * An internal server error has occured! Please try again later.” * It is only some of the pages, though. * 2: I have a persistent notice at the top of the admin pages: “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” * Any thoughts? * Again, I really appreciate all your help. Try updating permalinks to default and check if it still errors. If not, try to change back to the permalink structure that you want. * 2: This is from [http://codex.wordpress.org/Dashboard_Updates_SubPanel](http://codex.wordpress.org/Dashboard_Updates_SubPanel) * **Problem** After doing the upgrade, and received WordPress upgraded successfully message, but the following message still displays: * _An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now._ * **Solution** Delete the .maintenance file found in the WordPress root/base folder, the do the Upgrade again. * Which means .maintenance file exists in your WordPress folder. Connecting to your root folder should show hidden files (dotfiles) like .htaccess. In case you’re doing it from cpanel, make sure Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) checkbox is checked.
