Support » Plugin: Event Tickets » Upgrade to Events Tickets 5.0.0.1 breaks events with no tickets

  • After upgrading from The Events Tickets v. 4.12.3.1 to v. 5.0.0.1, I’m unable to add Events to the Events Calendar v. 5.1.6 without RSVPs or tickets (we have such events as placeholders). After saving the event as draft or publishing straight away, the events simply don’t exist on the backend and a 404 error is shown instead, even though the link seems to be created in the SQL database. This is an issue with the Events Tickets 5.0.0.1 plugin, since I disabled all other plugins except The Events Calendar and Events Tickets and the issue still persists. I reverted back to 4.12.3.1 from a backup and things work as intended.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Tickets plugin.

I am not able to reproduce this locally, nor have I seen other reports like this.

The first thing I would try is to flush your permalinks by simply visiting WordPress > Settings > Permalinks.

Next, there was an issue when version 5.0.0.1 of Event Tickets was released. It initially didn’t have all of the expected code changes, and was subsequently redeployed under the same version number. If you had downloaded the update within the first few hours, you might have wound up with the broken version. I would recommend deleting and redownloading the latest to make sure.

Can you tell us whether you are using the “block” or “classic” editor for your events?

And when testing things with other plugins disabled, did you also switch to the Twenty Twenty theme to rule out a theme or child theme conflict?

    Thanks,
    Sky

The issue still persists with the new version 5.0.0.1.

I was able to reproduce the error several times, even though no error is recorded in the error logs. I was also able to pin down the culprit: an incompatibility with the Classic Editor plugin. That was the only plugin I had not disabled, because I just can’t deal with this new block editor nonsense.

    To reproduce:

    1. Install Classic Editor plugin and Events Tickets 5.0.0.1.
    2. Create new event WITHOUT any RSVPs or tickets. (There’s no error as soon as there exists an RSVP or a ticket.)
    3. Save as draft or publish. Try to access either the preview (for draft) or the published page.
    4. 404 page not found error. Also, no listing in the events table on the back-end.

Other than the 404 error, no other errors are shown or logged.

Note that this error does not occur with Events Tickets versions prior to 5.0.

    Hi again,

There has been more updates since your last reply. With the latest updates and using the Classic Editor plugin, I am still not able to reproduce the issue you describe.

Can you try updating to the latest plugin versions and see if that helps?

Can you also tell me how you have your permalinks configured?

Finally, if you disable the event tickets plugin, are you able to create events without issue?

    Best,
    Sky
