• I just tried upgrading my blog to WordPress 3.4, which failed and I got a bunch of errors.
Now I tried restoring the backup I was able to automtically make before going through with the upgrade.

This backup however won’t work, then I get the following message:

Restoring Backup: Error: extraction failure: unable to extract /usr/home/deb23751/application_backups/c13e156c0b984e13a8f4162aced606b1.tar.gz' to/usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html’ (`265121792′): Directory /usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009 already exists as a file

None of my picutes show on my blog and linkwithin won’t work properly either.

Can somebody please help, I’m pretty frustrated since this has been going on the entire day. You can see the problem on my blog here: http://www.vivaglamx3.be/

I’ve already tried deactivating the plugins and all that, but it won’t work..

Thanks so much if you’re able to help!

  • 1. The juicer photo is in the folder wp-content/uploads/2012/06/
Can you understand it? So we want it there. Like this all other photos.
    2. Now you have empty folders. So, your posts do not show the photos. When we rename them, they become different. After that you can upoload the photos in the backup. Once they are there, they will appear in your pages/posts. Understand or no?

Reply, understand and then only start doing. OK?

I haven’t done anything yet because this is how it is in FTP now and I want to be 100% sure I’m doing the right thing here:

The juicer photo only exists in wp-content/uploads/2012.backup.07….

The only empty folder I have is wp-content/uploads/2012/06 (zero file size)

So I can only copy the juice photo into wp-content/uploads/2012
Or do I have to make a new folder there for 6?

No, click on the backup 2012. Possibly it will open monthwise. Just do that and report back.

    Thread Starter Laura A.

    (@laura-a)

yes it opens monthwise, so i’ve got folders 1 up to 6

Right. We want these to appear like 2012/01, 2012/02, ,,2012/06 in place of the empty folders. Can you copy and place them? If you can do that correctly, all the photos of 2012 will appear immediately on your site. Like that for each year and month.

You may find two options there, COPY, and MOVE. You can use any of them. But the safer is copy and paste. If they are moved, there is a chance of missing them. So, try the copy option. If it is difficult, download all backed up photos as a safety measure and then you can either upload using FTP or just copy and paste from the control panel. For trial just try one photo first.

    Okay so I’m creating new 2012/01, 2012/02 until 2012/06 folders under wp-content/uploads/2012

Then I’ll copy the content of the 1-6 folders from wp-content/uploads/2012.backup.07… into the new folders I just created, cuz the 1-6 under backup folders are filled with pics, right. None of them are empty at this time

if this seems right to you, i think i’m getting there..

Yes, very much. Will you copy and place just one photo so that I can make sure you are doing it right?

    Thread Starter Laura A.

    (@laura-a)

will do, how do you copy in FTP though, don’t seem to find a button and right click or ctrl+c won’t work? ^^

Try ctrl+copy and paste it. Possibly it will work. Otherwise look on the tabs. You will find a COPY option. Different servers are differently configured. So, without seeing, I cannot tell. Just try.

hmm doesn’t work and when I google it, it says: “The FTP protocol does not support file copy.”
    I work with Filezilla btw.

OK, just use Filezilla and upload one photo.

    (@laura-a)

Ok I’ve uploaded the juicer pic from my pc to the file 2012/6

Now check if it has appeared in your blog.

    it remains the same: http://www.vivaglamx3.be/

    Rename 6 as 06
