I spent a lot of time customising my carousel (mostly adjusting settings and a couple of minor css tweaks). When I applied this update, I found that all my (different sized) images had grey borders round them. Ugly. So I went into the settings, reduced the border width to zero, and clicked ‘update’… and my carousel then looked quite different – different number of images, alignment etc. WTF? I had to restore whole site from backup and start again.

OK, so having restored the website now it works again, including after re-applying the update, and I have removed the offending border with ugly css (using !important)…
But if saving my carousel breaks everything, what will I do when I want to add/remove images (which I will, very soon)? Will I have to unravel the whole thing and redo all my customisations? What did you change? And why? OK, the changelog lists border ‘fixes’, but surely just reducing the border to 0 in settings and saving shouldn’t change things like the number of images displayed?!

I was so happy to find this plugin, as I couldn’t find anything else that did what I needed, but now VERY UNHAPPY – feels like I have a small unexploded bomb on my website.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that the current version broke the carousel styles. The plugin got huge changes in its codes & dashboard fields that’s why some fields didn’t get the previous values.

We request you to copy the custom CSS and paste it to the current version’s settings. To get the custom CSS codes, you can install the previous version as temporary.

When you update a carousel, please make sure that all the fields have the values same to the current front end.

We are trying hard to make it better but sometimes the update doesn’t go as smooth as it should.

    Kind regards,
    ShapedPlugin

Thank you for your rapid response, and sorry for the rather emotional tone of my post – I do appreciate that sometimes major re-writes are necessary. My only request is that next time you indicate that more clearly in the changelog please, so that we know to take particular care and take note of settings and customisations before starting 🙂

I’ll have another go later today/tomorrow, and feed back here. Thanks again.

    Hi,

As it was a major update, it was hard to maintain backward compatibility. We try as much possible from our end. We will indicate the changes clearly next time. 🙂

Please try once again with the latest version. We are very eager to hear from you. If you need anything to know, feel free to ask us.

    Thank you very much.
