• After discovering that my distro of 2.0.5 was missing some important functions, I finally took the plunge….I upgraded from 2.0.5 to 2.1.3.

After reading so many forum posts about broken blogs after upgrading, and because I have almost 40 plugins for 2.0.x which I was afraid would break, and a site which isn’t just for fun and can’t stay broken for long, I was very hesitant…but I was finally pushed over the edge by a plugin I really need to work, which was struggling over the missing functions. The really amazing thing is that EVERY plugin I had been using, even those not listed on the 2.1.x compatible list, worked flawlessly when I reactivated it.

I upgraded (read: uninstalled and reinstalled new) a few which knew had specific 2.1.x version (all the ones from GaMerZ/lesterchan.net and rc-custom-field-gui), but those were the only ones I had to mess with. The longest phase of the upgrade was actually the backup of the db and the site…oh yes, and de-activating 40 plugins one by one! Everything else went amazingly quickly and smoothly.

I wanted to share this to encourage people who, like me, ar afraid to break their blogs by upgrading. I followed the instructions carefully, did everything exactly as they said, in the order they said, and I had it all done in a matter of two hours. It was well worth the effort!!

(PS Thanks HandySolo for your response to my wp_create_nonce question in another thread, which finally pushed me over the edge!)
