I have had a problem with my custom permalinks for post types created by the plugin. They get wiped out when I upgrade the plugin. I’m not sure if it happens every time, but it definitely happened when I upgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 just now. If it makes a difference, my permalinks are in the form /%post_type%/%year%/%monthnum%/%permalinktag% where %permalinktag% is the permalink tag for the particular post of the given custom post type.

Has anyone seen this before? Now that I know it happens, I’m ready to go re-enter my permalinks after upgrade, but it would be nice to not have to do that.

The plugin shouldn’t be touching which permalink structure you’re using. It does try to flush the permalink rules, which is different from the chosen structure, when you create/delete a post type or taxonomy, but that should be the only time.

Are the permalink structure settings being reset to the default “ugly” ones? Or something else?

On the permalinks page they get reset to just /

Then all of my custom post types resolve using the ugly ?post_type= URLs.

Really not sure why it happened. I’m hoping it’s a one-time oddity to occur and not something frequent. What makes it even more odd is that the only changes for the 1.1.3 release was the supported version number so I don’t have to worry about people asking if it’s still “good to go” in WP 4.4

Before I update to the next version, is there anything you’d like me to do before and after in case it happens again?

Not much that can be done in this case with this type of change that apparently occurred, to be honest.
