# Upgrade Issues

 * Hello everybody,
 * I know there seems to be alot of upgrade issues but need some clarification. 
   I FINALLY managed to install wordpress and log in. i saw that there was an upgrade
   to 2.8.2 so i thought instead of doing anything before might as well upgrade 
   now. Clicked to do an automatic upgrade and nothing happened for ages.
 * the question is i dont know how to go back to the admin part. If i go to my domain
   name (www.updowntrader.com) it just says the sites under construction. if i go
   to /wp-admin it says error 404 file not found. Is there another way or have i
   messed it all up with this upgrade?

 * you will need to rename or delete the index.html in the root to let wordpress’
   index.php show up
 * also, what happens when you try to log in at
    [http://www.updowntrader.com/wp-login.php](http://www.updowntrader.com/wp-login.php)
 * you may have gotten an incomplete upgrade from a slow server or whatever
    see
   what error you get when you get rid of the indx.html
 * if you need to upgrade manually, just upload the 2.8.2 files over what you have
   EXCEPT for `wp-config.php` – don’t accidentally delete it
