 * Hey guys. I’m new here and this is my second day on the job with wordpress. I’ve
just done the upgrades and now it wont let me back in the system. It just says“
Cannot proceed with installation, please upgrade to the version 3.0.96 or higher
from here first before upgrading to this version.” When I click the link it brought
me here and I can’t get it running again.
 * Can someone please help me?

 * I’m not new to wp and went through an automatic update to several plugins and
   receieved the following message.
 * Now, I can not log in or do anything.
 * The message was as follows:
Cannot proceed with installation, please upgrade
to the version 3.0.96 or higher from here first before upgrading to this version.

 * When I clicked “here”. This is where it sent me which did me no good because
I couldn’t get into my dashboard to do the upgrade.

 * Paul, Have you had any reply other than through here as I’m sure, like me, I
absolutely can not access nor view my website. It’s very frustrating as you and
I did nothing wrong other than accept a plugin upgrade and this is what happens.
 * It’s unfortunate there isn’t a toll free number for wordpress. Maybe there is
   and never heard about it.
 * I will say when it was up and running wordpress is amazing. There’s so much you
   can do.

 * WordPress is free software. What sort of support did you expect? Try:
    – switching
to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/
themes using [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management
   application your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

 * Interesting comment. No good in having anything free if it doesn’t work. The
fact is, I have a website which is with worpress.org for which I have paid for
the domain name and hosting services. I have on many occasions tried to correct
a number of issues and many suggestion have said to use FTP for which I have
for other business work (filezilla). It appears for any wordpress site through
wordpress.org you can not access the admin panel. However, if you have a site
   through wordpress.com you can not.
 * My site has a Twenty Ten theme. Thanks for your reply though but it didn’t help.
   🙂

 * Sorry but that is incorrect. wordpress.org does **not** provide any hosting or
domain services. Perhaps you have a wordpress.**com** site?

 * To be honest, I read through many forums and articles to determine if I had a
wordpress.com or wordpress.org and came to think I had wordpress.org because
I couldn’t seem to access my cpanel or admin panel. Now, you’ve got me wondering.
 * I was referring to my local service provider provider not wordpress when I said
   I paid.
 * All I know is I can’t access my website.

 * You have a self-installed site hosted at Net Firms. This means you should have
full access to your site via FTP and access to an account management panel.

 * > I won’t ask you how you knew that
 * She knew because that is what you (almost) always have when you sign up with
a host. They all have some form of control panel for account management/file
control. Via this control panel you will be able to access the directory that
WP is installed in and rename the theme folder as mentioned by Esmi.
