 * An upgrade is never a “quick click”.
    2.0 is only for testing (at this moment)
   not for a live site! The latest stable is 1.5.2 Why not try to update to 1.2.2
   first and then to 1.5.2? You can find the older versions here: [http://static.wordpress.org/archive/](http://static.wordpress.org/archive/)

 * You cannot go from 1.0 to 2.0 in one go.
 * You MUST do as Moshu says: 1.2.2 > 1.5 > next release.

 * I never thought it is a such ez thing to do the WP upgrade, all u need to do
   is “Make up your mind to do it”, so, everybody else that not upgrading yet, JUST
   DO IT!!!

 * umm, i’m in the same boat and I’m also having server trouble. Here’s my question:

   instead of upgrading three times (1.0 -> 1.2 -> 1.5 -> 2.0), what if I just install
   2.0 and start afresh with the same look and feel.
 * _is there any way I can get the archive in 2.0 to reflect and also \_search\_
   the previous archive? _Does this make sense?
 * I have enough disc space to run both databases at once.
 * **Essentially, I’d like to do a fresh install if i could also get 2.0 to look
   up the 1.0 archive when it does a search. **
    Would that work? What do you think?

 * No, I don’ think it would work – unless you are some coding wizard and can make
   it.
    As it was mentioned earlier, the upgrade is easier than you think, anyway
   easier than trying to do what you want 🙂

 * Easier? to do it three times? 🙁
 * I was looking at the “customize your search page” support on WP — won’t let me
   customize it that much, eh?

 * A new install would mean a new database (or, at least, a new set of tables with
   a different prefix). Your new WP 2.0 can NOT talk to the old database. Since
   you are arguing here you could have done at least one step 😉

 * oh, and to check. I need to go from 1.0.2 to b2 6.x?
 * [http://wiki.wordpress.org/?pagename=1.0%20Upgrade%20Notes](http://wiki.wordpress.org/?pagename=1.0%20Upgrade%20Notes))
 * Then to 1.22 (or 1.2?)
 * Then to 1.5
 * and then 2.0?
 * I can’t just go from 1.0.2 to 1.2?
 * Thanks, Moshu!

 * b2 is/was another blogging tool – the link you posted above is about _importing_
   not upgrading! That’s a different story.
    I really don’t understand all your
   questions. If you read all the posts above AND follow the links posted – you
   get all the information you need. There is nothing complicated, it’s a just bit
   of work.
