Upgraded to Version 3.0 all went well until I clicked on the ‘clean up’ button. Screen went blank and then printed the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_rtl() (previously declared in /home/opinion/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/locale.php:347) in /home/opinion/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/locale.php on line 349

I have *no* idea what to do to fix it.

    Suggestions please??

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder using FTP (or use whatever file management application your host provides)

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

The issue is most likely the Events Calendar plugin.

@esmi: Thanks for the suggestion but I’m not sure how to do what you suggest.

@ nacin: if I get back in I’ll try disabling it.

Right now I don’t know how to get at the software 🙁

Just follow the guide that esmi linked to reset your plugins. Then, whatever you do, don’t reactivate the Events Calendar plugin.

@esmi (again): Finally managed to follow instructions and got the site back… many thanks!! 🙂

I’m just about to start the tedious process of working through the plugin directory changing *their* names (starting with calendar) and seeingwhich is the guilty party!!

I got the same error, did the plugin reset.

Got the Dashboard back, but not the site itself.

I just updated around 20 WordPress sites and this is the only one that is giving me this issue.

The site didn’t like the new twenty-ten theme, which it defaulted to for some reason after upgrade. Switched back to custom theme and all is good.

    So, never mind.
