    Hi,

    I have received a notification for upgrading the database because of Give update. I start the update process (from the update sub-menu of Give) but it hangs on step 1/11 (9%) and after a while I get the message:

    An unexpected issue occurred during the database update which caused it to stop automatically. Please contact support for assistance.

    Any hints ?

    I have checked previous similar posts but I didn’t succeed, applying similar corrective actions, in solving my issue.

    Could I get support on this ?

    Thanks for reaching out here. We’re happy to help.

    We’ve seen updates stall as a result of a few different things. Normally it’s either a caching or security plugin or the server blocking access to the admin-ajax file.

    In every case, we’ve gotten to the bottom of it. So I feel pretty good about our chances here.

    First, some changes are coming in version 2.1 of Give that we’ve been testing with great success to handle stalled updates.

    The way to test those changes now would be to access your site’s files via SFTP or your web host’s file manager and navigate to plugins/give/includes/admin/upgrade/class-give-updates.php and replace ALL of the content of that file with the content from our github repo:
    1. Pause the updates happening on the site.
    2. Make a backup of your site that you can confidently restore from.
    3. select all of the current contents of the file at wp-content/plugins/give/includes/admin/upgrade/class-give-updates.php in a text editor. (Notepad on the PC or texteditor on the Mac will work)
    4. Select all of this page: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WordImpress/Give/release/2.1/includes/admin/upgrades/class-give-updates.php and copy all of it into the now empty file from step 3.
    5. Save the file and restart the updates.
