When I updated UpDraft Plus it temporarily crashed my website. What can be done to fix this?

    1. Updating another plugin is ok, no issues.
    2. Update Updraft Plus and there is a long wait (about a minute) and then the following on screen message:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    3. Go to website and the only on screen text is: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Dashboard does not come up either.

    4. Wait a couole of minutes and website comes up.

    5. Go to Dashboard and it’s ok, Plugin shows updated.

This has also happened with previous updates.

    Hi,

Could you send me a copy of your server’s PHP Error log?
You can find this log through your web hosting control panel (typically cPanel). If you are unsure where to find the PHP Error log, you can ask your hosts to provide it.

As an alternative, you can update the plugin via FTP/SFTP

    To do this:

    • Unzip the UpdraftPlus ZIP on your local machine, using a zip utility such as 7-zip.
    • Access your WordPress installation via FTP or your host’s filemanager.
    • Navigate to wp-content/plugins. Upload the UpdraftPlus folder here.
    • Go to the Plugins page on your WordPress dashboard. You should see UpdraftPlus in the list of plugins.

    Thanks,
    Harshad
