Updating WP or Themes and specialized widget content

  • I understand for the main themes a child-theme is created to make design / function changes to the main theme so as to preserve the changes every time WordPress or the theme is updated.

When I am inserting HTML in a text widget, will these changes be preserved after updating WordPress and/or the theme?

What are best practices to insure these changes are not overwritten during an update?

    Thanks

If you are using a child theme, in most cases the changes will be preserved. It can happen otherwise if there are conflicts with the original theme, plugins, WP core, etc.

Appreciate your feedback Krishna. Apologies for the delayed response.
