• WordPress constantly bring out new updates and I am juts wondering… is it safe to keep updating so regularly? I mean, my website is live and I am worried one of the updates might cause problems with one of the plugins or cause some other problem with something on my site. Am I just being paranoid or what should I do about this?

What do the people with popular live sites normally do about this issue?

You should be worried if you don’t keep up-to-date because security flaws are regularly fixed in the updates.

To clarify; are you talking about WordPress (the core application) or themes/ plugins?

    Edit: Hi WPyogi 🙂

NOT updating is unsafe – you’re more likely to get hacked. Make sure you have a full back-up of your site before you update.

And yes, sometimes updates do cause problems, but avoiding it is not the solution. If and when you have a problem, you’ll sort it out.

Also, be sure you are using plugins and themes from reputable sources and keeping them updated as well.

    EDIT – hi Andrew :)!

If you update and a horribly written plugin or a not-updated plugin screws up your site then get a new plugin.

For any function, there are A LOT of plugins that will do that function.
