Support » Fixing WordPress » updating to 3.8 = page cannot be displayed message

  • Hi there,

I would be really grateful for some help with this please.

I am trying to update to 3.8 and am currently running wordpress 3.7.1. I have had no problems updating in the past. I deactivated my plugins as usual before I tried running the update.

I keep getting the following appear on my screen.

    This page can’t be displayed

•Make sure that the web address is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.
•Refresh the page in a few minutes.

There is also a button that says fix connection problems, which when I clock tells me there is no connection problem, and all other functions on wordpress and the internet work, so I know I am definitely connected.

I contacted my host and they suggested I try here.

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

  • That message isn’t from WordPress, it’s from your browser. How are you attempting the update? Are you logging in to your dashboard and then clicking the relevant links?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have tried updating directly though my admin part of wordpress site. I then tried to update through the dashboard of my host and updating the one click installer, but that is saying that I have the latest update available to them (3.7.1) they don’t appear to be showing 3.8 yet.

I have also just started to get the same message when I am trying to install a new plugin (image pro).
